About PIE - FLEX

Pacific Intercultural Exchange is proud to be a placement organization and partner of the FLEX program since 1994.  Today, Pacific Intercultural Exchange manages the experience of approximately 135 FLEX participants and their host families each year.

During their year in the United States, FLEX students learn concepts such as volunteerism and the idea that American citizens can, and do, act on their own to deal with societal problems.  They will become aware of US laws and develop an appreciation for American culture.  We hope that FLEX students will develop enduring ties with Americans and also teach Americans about the cultures of their home countries. 

It is the goal of the program that at the conclusion of the year, FLEX students return to their home country and serve as agents for change, utilizing some of the concepts they have learned in the United States.
